Yesterday (March 8th) was International Women’s Day – a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Despite its current male-dominated landscape, a number of notable women entrepreneurs are making substantial contributions to the Web3 arena. In honour of International Women’s Day, let us acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and contributions of these ten influential women entrepreneurs in Web3.

Elizabeth Stark

Elizabeth Stark, CEO and co-founder of Lightning Labs, is at the forefront of developing a protocol for quick and scalable Bitcoin transactions. Her advocacy for blockchain technology has earned her recognition in leading publications like The New York Times and Forbes, as well as presenting at prestigious venues such as TEDx and MIT Media Lab.

Nicole Muniz

Nicole Muniz is an accomplished entrepreneur who serves as CEO of Yuga Labs, the company behind the highly sought-after Bored Ape Yacht Club nonfungible token (NFT) collection. With a background in advertising and marketing, she has produced content for J. Walter Thompson and managed accounts at B-Reel, including Google. Her contributions to Web3 have played a significant role in shaping the future of blockchain-based digital art and collectibles.

Cathie Wood

Cathie Wood is an accomplished American entrepreneur who founded ARK Invest, a global asset management firm that focuses on disruptive technology companies, including those involved in blockchain and cryptocurrency. He Yi

Cathy Hackl

Cathy Hackl is the founder and chief metaverse officer at Journey, an innovation and design consultancy. She is a renowned futurist, speaker, and advocate of augmented reality (AR). Cathy Hackl is recognized as an expert in branding and marketing strategies for virtual and augmented reality. Her insightful contributions can be found in Forbes, and she was recognized as one of LinkedIn’s top 10 tech voices.

Jutta Steiner

Jutta Steiner is a renowned computer scientist and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to the blockchain industry. She is the CEO and co-founder of Parity Technologies, a company dedicated to developing software solutions for the Ethereum blockchain. Prior to her work in the blockchain sector, Steiner held multiple positions at McAfee, a cybersecurity company. She also worked as a researcher at the University of Edinburgh.

Linda Xie

Linda Xie is a prominent figure in the world of cryptocurrency, serving as the co-founder and managing director of Scalar Capital, a cryptocurrency investment firm. She is also recognized as a co-founder of CryptoSight, a platform that provides investors with the ability to track and analyze their cryptocurrency portfolios. Her expertise and contributions to the field have earned her features in reputable publications such as Forbes and Fortune.

Jinglan Wang

Jinglan Wang co-founded PlasmaPay, a decentralized financial platform that facilitates cryptocurrency transactions including buying, selling, and storing. As the CEO, Wang is committed to growing PlasmaPay and increasing its global reach in the payments industry. She has been involved in the cryptocurrency field since 2013 and has been recognized by various organizations, such as the Blockchain Association of Ukraine, for her contributions to the sector.

Eugenia Kuyda

Eugenia Kuyda is a computer scientist and entrepreneur originally from Russia, now residing in the United States. She is renowned as the co-founder and CEO of Replika, an AI-powered chatbot app that emulates human conversation. In 2022, Replika hit over 10 million users worldwide, marking a 35% increase in usage since 2020. Kuyda previously co-founded Luka, a messaging app that employed AI to suggest nearby eateries. Prior to this, she developed Bribr, a software that permitted users to secretly track bribery attempts.

About Adobe Flash

Adobe Flash is a deprecated multimedia software platform used for production of animations, rich Internet applications, desktop applications, mobile applications, mobile games and embedded web browser video players. Flash displays text, vector graphics and raster graphics to provide animations, video games and applications. It allows streaming of audio and video, and can capture mouse, keyboard, microphone and camera input. Related development platform Adobe AIR continues to be supported.

Artists may produce Flash graphics and animations using Adobe Animate. Software developers may produce applications and video games using Adobe Flash Builder, FlashDevelop, Flash Catalyst, or any text editor when used with the Apache Flex SDK.

End-users can view Flash content via Flash Player (for web browsers), AIR (for desktop or mobile apps) or third-party players such as Scaleform (for video games). Adobe Flash Player (supported on Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux) enables end-users to view Flash content using web browsers. Adobe Flash Lite enabled viewing Flash content on older smartphones, but has been discontinued and superseded by Adobe AIR.

The ActionScript programming language allows the development of interactive animations, video games, web applications, desktop applications and mobile applications. Programmers can implement Flash software using an IDE such as Adobe Animate, Adobe Flash Builder,Adobe Director, FlashDevelop and Powerflasher FDT. Adobe AIR enables full-featured desktop and mobile applications to be developed with Flash and published for Windows,macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Wii U and Switch.

Although Flash was previously a dominant platform for online multimedia content, it is slowly being abandoned as Adobe favors a transition to HTML5. Flash Player has been deprecated and has an official end-of-life by 2020. However, Adobe will continue to develop Adobe AIR, a related technology for building stand-alone applications and games.
