ActionScript: The Definitive
Guide
by Colin Moock
"ActionScript: the Definitive Guide" is truly just that
- simply the most thorough book written on Flash's scripting
language. Unlike most books available for Flash developers,
ASDG was designed to be an often referred to desk reference.
Colin provides excellent information about writing good
code, how ActionScript works, and shows it in action. All
of this is presented in logically ordered chapters so that
"newbies" to programming and/or to ActionScript can quickly
and painlessly get up to speed. In addition, the second
half of the book is a Language Reference which is extremely
useful for looking up syntax, choosing code and getting
the technical details on anything Actionscript. If you already
know ActionScript and simply want a book that is more thorough
than the Macromedia help files provided with Flash, then
this is the book you need. It is the only book in my Flash
library that I constantly refer back to. As an extra note,
Colin is working on the Definitive Guide for Flash MX. More
details can be found on his web site (as well as code) www.moock.org
