“Welcome to my whimsical, magical garden.
This is where I come to play.
This is where I come to heal.”

Ann-Marie Cheung is inspired by the natural world, mythology and dreams.  Many of her paintings are whimsical, colourful and playful. She mainly creates using acrylic paint but also explores mixed media, pen and ink, encaustic and glass.

Her recent body of work “The Healing Garden” explores spirituality and the process of art as a healing tool.  These present creations investigate colour, texture and patterns combining ancient symbols and mythologies to create something mystical, joyful and primitive.

Ann-Marie graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1984 from the general studies program and in 2012 obtained The Royal Conservatory, Learning Through the Arts® (LTTA) Artist-Educator Foundations Course Certificate. Her work has been purchased by the Canada Council Art Bank and has been published in “Zen Doodle Tons of Tangles” (2013). She has had numerous exhibits across Canada and has work in private and public collections around the world.

3 Keys to Building a Profitable E-mail List

By Special Guest ~ PJ Van Hulle

PJThe easiest and most effective way to follow up and nurture relationships with your clients and potential clients is to build an e-mail list  of people who have “opted in” and given you permission to send them e-mails.

With a profitable e-mail list you can:

● Fill your seminars and programs

● Attract more clients and sales

● Turn current clients into repeat clients

● Promote other peoples’ programs that you believe in and earn $1,000′s inaffiliate commissions

Here are 3 basic keys to building a successful e-mail list:

First of all, you need to have one in the first place.  That means that you need an e-mail delivery system, which is commonly called a CRM (Contact Relationship Manager).

There are MANY systems to choose from.  I recommend Mail Chimp or Constant Contact if you’re just starting out and don’t have a lot of funds to work with.  I recommend 1ShoppingCart if you want to be able to process credit cards online.  Once you have 500 people on your list and are making $100,000 or more in revenue, it’s time to consider switching to Infusionsoft, which is more pricey but much more advanced.

You also need an Opt In Page where people can sign up to be on your list.  When people opt in, their contact information gets entered into your CRM automatically.

Next, it’s important to nurture relationships with people on your list by offering them something of value, other than sales, sales, and more sales.

Your list is a community of people who have put their trust in you.  They’ve trusted you with their name and e-mail address.  Since many people change their physical address more often than their e-mail address nowadays, that’s actually a generous show of trust.

They’ve trusted you to provide them with valuable information and not to sell their contact information or spam them.  Honor that trust by sending them articles (like this one), helpful tips, or inspiring quotes.

One of my colleagues runs an auto repair center, and he realized that his clients didn’t want to learn about auto repair (that’s why they hired him) so he just sends them funny quotes, comics, and stories that have nothing to do with auto repair but make them laugh.

Finally, you need to continually build your e-mail list by having new potential clients opt in.  Focus on attracting your tribe of ideal clients, not just anyone.  That way, the people who join your list will be more likely to actually invest in your products and services.

Bingo as a Timeless Symbol of Female Self-Sufficiency

How women and bingo have relied on each other throughout history

One of the biggest changes in history that has swept through society is the dramatic alteration of women’s roles in the community. Around 50 years ago, women were expected to play the one-dimensional role of being a housewife and looking after their husband and children. Nowadays, however, they are steadily claiming their rightful places in different areas of society after decades of struggle.

Bingo is one field that has recently opened up a niche for women in the workforce. According to bingo information resource Bingo Reviewer, the game has always been greatly slanted towards women, who make up around 90% of bingo players. Gaming corporations have started using this finding to put more women frontline developers in the online bingo industry, seeing as they know how best to appeal to players of their own gender. For instance, Las Vegas’ renowned Rampart Casino has just appointed Joanne Farwell – a woman and an experienced game handler – as bingo manager in anticipation of the establishment’s new Bingo Room opening this year. Bingo outlets have also featured attractions that are expected to draw in more of its target female market. Top UK online gaming site Iceland Bingo recently launched a television marketing campaign with ads that show numerous glamorous ladies at bingo parties, while the eminent Plaza Hotel and Casino (the only location with a bingo hall in downtown Vegas) places its bingo hall across from a female-only salon to catch the eye of their clientele.

Even long before the mass entry of women into the labor force, bingo already represented a world where all ladies were welcome, a sort of Fight Club for females, if you will. Bingo halls were places where they could discuss the everyday joys and pains of life whilst striking off numbers from their cards. More than actually winning and acquiring monetary rewards, the friendship formed and gained from many years of playing is probably the reason why bingo draws loyal customers all over the world. Seen that way, the employment of female developers these past few years becomes just another chapter in bingo’s long history as an ally of womenfolk across the globe.
