The 2008 Flash Goddess Award

The 2nd annual Flash Goddess Award is designed to recognize, promote, and reward talented women designers/developers working in the Flash industry. Applicants will be required to submit for consideration their online portfolios and/or projects they have worked on. They will be judged on concept, visual design, technical excellence, and the overall effectiveness to bring these elements together to give us the 'wow' effect. We wish to highlight women who are innovative, creative and inspirational in their production of interactive media.
Due to the small amount of applicants this year we will not be presenting the 2008 Flash Goddess Award. We are however awarding a few FITC tickets to some impressive contestants...

Kristin Henry

Kristin Henry is a programmer, computational artist, science animator, interactive data visualization expert, and all-around geek with artistic tendencies. In addition to working as an independent consultant, she is president and lead developer at GalaxyGoo, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing science literacy.
When developing educational applications and interactive visualizations of scientific data using Flash, she combines her academic background in science and programming skills. In one of her recent projects, she developed an interactive visualization of ice core data for NASA.
Henry has presented at both industry and academic conferences including FITC and the Gordon Research Conference on Visualization in Science and Education.
She has contributed her knowledge of Flash in two books, including New Masters of Flash Volume 3 and Special Edition Using Macromedia Studio 8. |

Nathalie Lawhead is a designer, animator, and coder working with the AlienMelon team. Rumor has it that she had herself uploaded to the web, and spends most of her time there developing casual Flash games driven by chatterbot AI, and exploring ways to merge this into her interactive uber-media experiment BlueSuburbia. She currently resides in Orange County, California as a freelance tacktical-ops Flash specialist. |
